PATIENCE IS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT IN LIFE

Patience is being able to wait for something that you want to happen.

We spend a lot of our lives waiting. As we were growing up, we had the heart of patience but as we matured everything changed. We started lacking patience and found as if we were getting late. Patience not only relaxes you, it also offers that wonderful state of being that we call "peace of mind," which has an incredible effect on the quality of life. We live interrupted lives, punctuated with distractions that come at us from all sides. This can easily create anxiety and lack of patience. People want things now and now. The spirit of patience is very rare. We are always in a hurry and in this hurrying, we get bruised and hurt. Many of the health conditions are as a result of impatience. Our minds are constantly jumping from thought to thought, task to task, worry to worry.

There are many things in life that test our patience: Traffic on roads, bank queues, supermarket lines, doctor's offices, finances, relationships, irritating people, etc. We hate to wait. We are the Now Generation. So “How do you Develop Your Patience?” This is the greatest concern.

“But let patience have her perfect work” (James 1:4 KJV)

God, as you know, is a God of patience. Romans 15:5 (NKJV)

5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.

James 5:8 (NKJV)

8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Like a farmer waits patiently for the early and latter rain, we are also to be patient because the coming of the Lord is near.

Patience requires a change of attitude. A great way to create a new attitude is to ask yourself, "What's the bigger picture here?" This creates a state of productive curiosity that helps you to realize how many good things often happen over time. The feeling of impatience is often a consequence of feeling overwhelmed. You never achieve patience through rushing. You need the calm state that comes with letting go of anxious feelings that destroy the easiness of life. By just prioritizing your tasks and committing to do them one at a time, you loosen the grip that feeling overwhelmed has on you.

Many of life's miracles often do not happen quickly; they require patience. Illnesses and wounds heal best with patience. Life often reveals its mysteries with patience. Difficult problems sometimes solve themselves with patience. We grow into healthy, functioning adults with patience. Impatience is self-destructive because you tie yourself down with a rope of unhealthy thoughts.

Stop worrying. You will notice that even when we realize a situation is beyond our control, we still try to control it by worrying. To worry about something you can't change is useless. Do you have anybody in your life right now that refuses to change? Do you know how difficult it is to live with that kind of person? We need patience with people.

Be patient. If you are going to be a success with people, you have to learn patience. If you are going to be successful parents, you need to have patience. You don't get overheated with circumstances and situations or kids or family. You need to be patient when circumstances are uncontrollable and when people are unchangeable. Though a situation may be out of my control, no circumstance is out of God's control. Although I can't control everything that happens in my life, God can control the same. Thus I need to trust Him.

Do you have a dream, a goal in life, a vision that God's given you? God says it will be right on target, at the right time, in the right way. You wait expectantly and quietly.

Psalm 37:7 "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him to act."

Where do you need to have patience this day? Do you have an uncontrollable circumstance in your life right now? Maybe you are in a job situation, a financial reversal, illness, or relationships. You need patience and allow God to work behind the scenes.

Take a time out to notice all of the good things that life offers you. Begin by noticing that every time you breathe in, there is fresh air available. That, right there is wonderful, and it is only one of ten thousand ways that life supports you, every day, with living a great life. When you pause to notice, you'll appreciate how much more life is in your favor rather than against you. Just realizing this calms you, which in turn promotes patience.

Learning to be patient. Being patient is not always easy. It takes practice. We must work on being patient every day. God likes us to have patience. We have more friends when we are patient and kind.

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Patience is important. Patience is an important tool in overcoming frustration. Patience allows us to suspend judgment long enough to make informed decisions, thus paving the path to a happy and peaceful life. With patience you can avoid making hasty decisions. Life is not about living in the future or in the past. Life is about accepting the present moment.

Impatience is self-destructive because you tie yourself down with a rope of unhealthy thoughts.
