We are born in this world with each having a purpose to accomplish in the many years one would live. I look back at my 63 years that I have now lived and feel so disappointed that I wasted many of those years since I had not known my purpose in life. I put my efforts on things that were not in line with my purpose. I was influenced by the society, peers and my environment. I took the courage to know my purpose and now I focus my life on my purpose.
When you set goals for yourself, you undoubtedly have the very best of intentions. You want to succeed with your goals and reap the many benefits that come with making successful and important changes in your life. If you cannot remain focused on your goals, you will lose momentum and fail to make the progress you desire. This soon leads to a loss of confidence and motivation.
The most important key to being focused is consistency. You don’t give up. Results may not come quickly but you remain focused.
People are unable to focus because:
- They become tired and bored.
- They lose patience.
- Most times we work through stress or duress and it hits us hard.
- Many times we want to accomplish too many things at once and hence we become so frustrated when we don’t achieve our desired results.
- We sometimes make hasty decisions because we have seen others who have made these types of decisions.
The solution is Remaining Focused in Your Life.
Some of the greatest questions you can ask yourself are:
- What is your objective is for doing it? What did you want to accomplish?
- What is vision or what is the end in mind?
- Am I in the right environment for my success?
- What am I supposed to be doing NOW or in the present moment?
- Have I learned to let go of everything else except the objective?
- Do I take breaks in life to do an evaluation of my purpose or simply do I stop to take stock of my life?
- Have I written down my vision and goals for my life?
What does it take to be focus? The keys are priorities and concentration. You must set your priorities in life and put all your efforts in the same. You cannot be broad. You must be specific and give yourself time frames. Since 2005, I set myself to focus on two areas in my life: I call them 2 I’s : Imparting knowledge and skills in all areas of my capabilities and Impacting people’s lives. This has brought great joy and satisfaction to me.
To stay focused in life and do the work God has entrusted us, we must constantly pose the questions of purpose and priority. We must do what is needful, and make time for God in solitude.
Ours is a purpose-driven life. We NEED A CLEAR FOCUS.
- Do you have a purpose in life?
- Do you have a clear idea of what you are trying to accomplish in life?
- If not, then you will be dominated by the expectations and demands of others.
- You will be leading your life according to the opinions and judgments of your family, your neighbours, your friends, and your co-workers.
If you don’t have a clear purpose, then you will end up being directed by those who do. And you will look back at your life wondering what you really accomplished?
